The Race To Buy – From You

Yesterday I told you about our Saturday evening out, and the great marketing strategy that was being used by the restaurant we went to, and how you can apply it to YOUR business.

I also promised that I’d be back today, with even more great stuff for you.

As Paul Harvey always says, “Here’s the rest of the story”.

After finishing dinner last Saturday evening, we headed over to Giggles Comedy Club, which is near the University of Washington.

Lisa and I had been to this comedy club several times in the past, and we’d always enjoyed ourselves.


All of our previous experiences would pale, when compared to the performance of this evening’s comedian.

Ron Pearson was the headliner for the night, and let me tell you – this guy knew how to work a crowd.

He’s an incredible performer, and had everyone in the room completely engaged in his act.

What’s most interesting about Ron’s comedy routine is the way that he sets himself apart from most other comedians.

You see – most comedians use a fair amount of colorful language in their performances.

Ron on the other hand – uses NONE.

And let me assure you, this made an impression on me.

A HUGE impression.

After Ron was finished with his performance, he let the audience know that he’d be offering copies of his DVD for sale.

Truth is, most comedians do this.


Most comedians don’t get the response that Ron did.

As soon as his show was over, people raced out to the lobby so they could get their hands on a copy of Ron’s DVD.

Like I mentioned earlier, Lisa and I had been to this comedy club on several occasions, and though most comedians will offer their DVD’s for sale at the end of their performance, I’ve never seen the audience respond like this.

About half of the 300 people in the audience were now standing in line, with money in hand, so they could get a copy of Ron’s DVD.

And just in case you’re wondering, yes, Lisa and I bought a copy as well.

So did the couple that was with us.

This story brings to light a HUGE marketing lesson that most business owners never get, which is this:

When you give people what they want, they’re gonna buy from you.

All you gotta do is position your products in a way that gives people what they want.

And truth is, I do this all the time in my own business.

It’s really easy.

Eating With Bill Gates

Last Saturday evening we went to Seattle, for an evening out with some friends.

We’d made dinner reservations at Daniel’s Broiler, which is a very popular Seattle Restaurant.

When we arrived, the hostess took us over this unique display case, where she gave us a quick education on the kind of steaks that the restaurant served.

She then took us to the waiting area, and told us that she’d be seating us for dinner in just a few minutes.

As I sat there, I couldn’t notice all the photos on the wall.

The photos were take in the restaurant, and showed many famous actors and local icons who had dined at Daniel’s Broiler before us.

I immediately recognized many of the actors, as well as the local icons, which included:

Tony Ventrella – a local sports caster.

Steve Raible, who’s one of the local news anchors.

And of course there was Bill Gates, owner of Microsoft Corporation.

As one looks at all these photos, you immediately notice that everyone in them is having a whole lot of fun.

You then think to yourself, “Wow, if all of these well known folks frequent this restaurant, it must be pretty good”.

And let me assure you, it was good.

VERY good.

But, as good as the food was, that’s not what makes this restaurant so popular.

Now don’t get me wrong, having good food is important, but that’s not why people come to this restaurant.

The reason people come to this establishment is because they want to associate themselves with some of the people I just told you about.

They want to be able to tell their friends and family that Bill Gates eats dinner at the same place they do.

And let me tell you, this is a powerful marketing strategy.

There’s no doubt about it – the owner of this restaurant understands marketing, and he understands it very well.

By taking photos of these actors, celebrities and local icons, then posting them on the wall, it’s almost as if each of these people is endorsing Daniel’s Broiler.

Now that’s powerful.



Remember this:

What someone else says about you, your products or your business, is infinitely more powerful than anything you could ever say about yourself.

Why do you think I use so many testimonials Like These?

I let other people tell the story for me, because they can do it much better than I ever could.

Not only that…

Other folks are more likely to listen to what these folks have to say, because they have no ties with my company.

When you offer a quality product or service, you’ll be able to get plenty of comments – Just Like These.

And then, you too will get to take advantage of this incredible marketing strategy.

Your Magic Crystal Ball

When most people first start a business of their own, they make one HUGE mistake that dooms them to failure from the very beginning.

To insure YOUR success, all you gotta do is make one simple change in your mindset.

Here’s how:

Most business owners are continually asking themselves, “How can I sell more of my products and services”?

As a result, every time they talk to a prospect, they come across as a salesperson.

This turns people off, because none of us likes to be sold.

Now don’t get me wrong, we all love to buy, but we hate to be sold.

Talk About Stupid

I recently received a letter from one of my clients, and after reading it, I was taken back about 11 years, when I too was struggling to figure things out.

In the past, I’ve purchased at least 3 or 4 other programs on home business, but I couldn’t understand what they were saying, and of course they didn’t work for me.

There’s no need to feel stupid.

I completely understand where you’re coming from, because I too went through a period of struggle in my life, where it seemed like I failed at everything I tried.

But, once my friend introduced me to Joe, and I began getting his help, I was able to transform my cleaning business into one of the most successful companies here in the Seattle area.

After doing so, I realized that the secret to success, in any endeavor, is to follow the advice of someone who’s already been there and done that.

There are many “pretend experts” who will take your cashola, and offer you nothing in return.

But let me tell you, these schmucks are really easy to spot.

All you gotta do is ask them for their bank statements so you can see proof of their earnings.

And when you do, they’ll turn tail and run.


A true expert will be more than happy to offer you plenty of proof so you can see that they’re for real, and their methods work like gangbusters.

It’s Not What You Think

Last week one of my clients sent me a video link called “Don’t Quit”.

After following the link over to You Tube, I watched the 6-minute video, and when it was finished, I was in a state of awe.

So much so, that on the way out of town last Friday, I picked up a copy of the movie – Facing The Giants – so I could watch more than a 6-minute clip.

And let me tell you, this movie had one heck of a message about getting what you want in life.

Most folks think that success is about working hard so you can get the big promotion, make more cashola and that kind of thing.

But it’s much more than that.

Success is about rising about rising above hardships, setbacks, challenges, previous mistakes and the pain you’ve had in the past.

It’s about going after what you’re passionate about, and what you believe in, even when those around you would call you crazy.

Over the weekend, as I sat and watched this movie with my wife, I thought about my own struggles on the way up the ladder of success.

Only thing was, I tend to look at things differently than most.

When someone tells me that I can’t do something, it makes me want to prove them wrong.

When I come up against a challenge, I immediately begin looking for the answer.

When I make a mistake, I realize that it’s just a learning experience.

People who are successful make a habit of doing this kind of thing. They rise above circumstances.

Today, YOU are successful when you decide to do this.

When you decide that YOU will rise above your challenges, and seek out the answers from someone who’s already been there and done that.

And when you do, a whole new world of opportunity will be open to YOU.

What’s Your Burning Desire

Today – I’ve got something important (and even a little bit personal) to share with you.

As I write this, Lisa and I are getting ready to get away for a nice relaxing mini vacation. In fact, we’re leaving tomorrow morning.

If you read my emails and blog posts last week, you know that Lisa just returned home from a 9-day Mexican Cruise.

You see – Lisa works with physically handicapped adults, and she took one of her clients on a vacation.

And while it certainly was a lot of fun for her, it wasn’t like a “real” vacation.

So now we’re gonna take a “real” vacation.

We found this awesome little hideaway on Whidbey Island that has an incredible view overlooking the Puget Sound, and that’s where we’ll be staying this weekend.

No television, no computers, no phones and no work.

Just the two of us.

And let me tell you – I sure am looking forward to spending some quality time with my wife.

Last week was the longest time that Lisa and I have been separated from each other since we met, and as you can imagine, I now have a whole new appreciation for her.

I couldn’t imagine what it would be like without Lisa in my life, and you can be sure, from this point forward, I’m going to make sure that she ALWAYS knows that.

The fact is, Lisa and the kids really are the most important thing in my life.

They’re my biggest motivators.

You… A Fly On The Wall

I’m about to do another first.

Something I’ve never done before.

I’m going to give you an inside peek into the Automatic Income Inner Circle.

The members and I have had some incredible munee-makin conversations in the members only forum as of late.


For the first time ever, I’m going to let you be a fly on the wall so you can eavesdrop in on one of these conversations.

Here it is:

Hello Fellow AIIC Members,

I was at one of my favorite events the other day – the annual outdoors show – kinda gets me in the mood for the upcoming fishing season.

Now I go to this every year and I pretty much know the whole show by heart and to be honest I have been getting a little tired of the thing (been going for over 10 years).

But this year something was different – ME!

I was not only looking at all the cool outdoors stuff but I was looking for new ideas and niches – I actually found 3 – two are so-so good but one has some potential.

That is what I was talking about in my earlier post – about doing something – getting out there and looking around.

For instance – if you (like me) are not a gardener – go to a garden show and see what everybody is going bonkers over.

Ideas can come from everywhere.

I once read the book Beat The Street – an investing book.

The author (can’t remember his name at the moment) said he got lots of investing ideas by going to the mall with his daughters – he watched what stores they and other teens just “had to go in” and then checked them out and invested – pretty simple!

Here’s my reply to Bob’s post:

Hi Bob,

Interesting story – and you bring up some incredible marketing points.

Two years ago, my son Adam chose the topic of “fly fishing” for his senior project.

This meant that he had to do some serious in-depth research on the topic, and then give a 30-minute presentation on the topic, in front of his entire senior class.

To help him get started, he and I went to the big hunting and fishing show in our area.

It was a great event, and Adam was able to make some key contacts that played an instrumental role in helping him complete his senior project.

But let me tell you a VERY interesting story.

While at this event, there was this guy who was doing these fly tying demonstrations.

And let me tell you, there was no doubt that this guy knew what he was doing. He was a true professional.

He simply sat at a table and did his thing.

The whole time, he was wired with a microphone, and he explained everything he did, in a step-by-step format.

Not only that…

He had this video camera that recorded his every move, and transferred the feed to a couple of large television screens – so everyone in the audience could see precisely what he was doing.

As Adam and I watched this guys presentation, I couldn’t help but notice that there was easily more than 200 other folks, who were also intently watching every move this guy made, and listening to every word he said.

About half way through the presentation, Adam leans over to me and asks if we could get a copy of this guys video, so he could have it for future reference.

I thought it was a great idea, and assured Adam that we’d get a copy.

But get this…

As soon as the guy was finished with his presentation, he was immediately mobbed by a large portion of the audience (myself and Adam included), and every one of us wanted to get a copy of his video.

We were all ready to buy, NOW.

Only problem was…

He didn’t have a video for sale.

I couldn’t believe it.

He’d just finished doing an incredible presentation, and now had people clamoring to get a copy of it on video, yet it wasn’t available.

As you can imagine, I had to linger around long enough, so I could speak with this gentleman for a moment, and let him know that he was missing out on a HUGE source of income.

I did in fact get the opportunity to speak with him, and had I not been so busy at the time, I could have easily set up a very profitable joint venture relationship with him.

With his knowledge of fly tying, my knowledge of marketing, and the fact that we already had proof that people would buy (as evidenced by the mobbing), we could have both made some HUGE bucks.

So, the point of this whole story:

Keep an eye out for opportunities like this.


Because just one opportunity is all you need to make a fortune.

Sit On Yer Butt, Make Thousands – Here’s How

Can you imagine sitting on yer but in front of your desk, plunking away at your computer keyboard for 15-30 minutes a day, and making thousands?

It almost sounds too good to be true, yet it’s what I do every day.

When you know how to put words on paper, people will send you major cashola.

If you’re a business owner (or aspire to be), you get to use this skill in your business, and you get to keep ALL the cashola that people send you.

It’s one of the most powerful skills I’ve ever used.

And let me tell you, even though my style of writing would cause my High School English teacher to go into a panic, it doesn’t bother me in the slightest.

The fact is, my style of writing puts major cashola in the bank.

I’ve never been to college, and I’ve had no formal training in this area.


Because they don’t teach this stuff in college.

I learned this skill from my good friend (and mentor), Matt Furey. The secrets he taught me currently put about 40 Grand a month into my bank account, and that number continues to climb on a regular basis.
