Baby Steps To Success

Last Tuesday was Brocks first birthday.

It was also the day that he walked for the first time, and I was fortunate enough to get it on video.

As you watch this video, you’ll notice that the whole family was there, cheering Brock on.

Yes, it was a VERY BIG deal.

Brock has been trying to walk for a couple months now.

As long as he had something to hold onto and balance himself, such as the couch or the coffee table, he was comfortable walking.

Without the aid of these items, he’d only fall to his knees or his butt.

Even at that, he’d keep trying to walk.

And yes, he fell down MANY times.

Yet I’m sure it never occurred to him that he wouldn’t figure out how to walk at some point.

It was simply a matter of time until he accomplished this task.

This is the same attitude you MUST have when it comes to providing for yourself and your family.

You must be determined to make it happen – no matter what.

Most people will give up at the first sign of struggle, the first roadblock they hit, or the first mistake they make.

If the path isn’t lined with roses, they immediately give up on all their dreams and aspirations.

Problem is, this ain’t gonna get you anywhere.

Yes, there’s going to be challenges, you’ll make some mistakes – and no, not everything will go perfectly as planned.

But that’s where I come in.

I show you how to overcome ANY and ALL challenges, hurdles and mistakes.

Because I’ve been doing what I do for many years, I’ve made a lot of mistakes.

But…

More importantly, I’ve learned from those mistakes, and as a result, I’ve figured out what works.

Brock’s 1st Birthday

Today is Brock’s first birthday, and being the proud daddy I am, this is cause for MAJOR celebration.

It’s hard to believe that he’s already 1 year old.

Time sure does fly.

Anyways, I’m taking the afternoon of so I can spend it with my best little buddy.

We’re having a small part for him tonight with close family, but the big party is happening on Saturday.

We’ve invited a bunch of friends over, and Lisa’s got plans for a big party and barbeque.

My good friends Tim and Teresa are even flying in from Texas so they can be here for Brock’s birthday.

Maybe I’ll share some pictures with you next week.

The reason I’m telling you all this is to make a point.

I just got this email from Linda, and she does a GREAT job of making it for me…

Dear Kevin,

Thank you very much for all your patience and how you keep sending me information about your Internet business and your family. I am glad that I luckily cross your path because you are such a good man, a good family man and a good MANAGER in business.

Tax Day Celebration

Yesterday was April 15th, the day that represents the deadline for you and I to deal with our taxes for 2008 and recon with Uncle Sam.

Many folks had to pay, while many folks got a return.

I mailed my taxes on Monday, and when I did, the guy behind the counter at the Post Offices asked if I had to pay, or if I was getting a return.

“I’m paying”, I said, “and that’s a very good thing”.

“You’re right”, he replied, “That is a good thing”.

He then went on to share his philosophy on getting refunds from the IRS.

“If you get a refund, it means that you overpaid on your taxes, the government got to use your munee for the whole year, and they used it tax-free. That’s B.S. in my book”.

I have to admit, he did have a point.

But the government hasn’t been using my munee.

Come April 15th, I always owe, and the amount I owe gets bigger every year.

And just in case you’re wondering, YES, I’m VERY happy about that.

If I owe the IRS more, it means that I made more.

I’m always amazed when I hear people say, “I don’t want to make more income, because I’ll just owe more taxes”.

Every time I hear this, I think to myself, “Are you kidding me”?

Yeah, I owe more, but I also kept more.

I remember being at a seminar several years ago when Bill Phillips was talking about the subject of taxes.

In case you don’t know, Bill used to be the owner of EAS, one of the biggest health supplement companies in the country.

He was also publisher of Muscle Media Magazine, and founder of the Body For Life Contest.

At this seminar, he was talking about his recent tax bill (which was in the millions, as I recall), and how happy he was to pay it.

Why?

Because his personal income (the munee he kept in his pocket) was FAR more than what he owed the IRS.

So…

If you owed Uncle Sam a good chunk of change yesterday, be thankful for that.

It means you’re doing well and your family is provided for.

The only thing you need to do now is ask yourself, “How can I pay more taxes next year, while simultaneously increasing my personal (in my pocket) income”?

And when you do, be sure to have a specific goal in mind.

Do you want to double your income?

Triple your income?

How about 10-times your income?

It’s possible you know.

A good friend of mine has a goal to 10-times his income in 2009, and he’ll do it, that you can be sure of.

For me, the goal isn’t so much to increase my income, although that will DEFINITELY happen.

My biggest goal for 2009 is to reach out to MANY more people so I can connect with them on a deep emotional level and make a long-lasting positive change in their lives.

In the process of doing THIS, my income will naturally go up.

More money will automatically be attracted to me, simply because my goal is to provide MORE value to MORE people.

So…

Why I Love My Wife

Last year, on November 14th and 15th, I hosted the Ultimate Home Office Field Trip, and it was an incredible success.

The people who attended were completely blown away by everything they discovered, and many of them have now gone on to create extremely successful businesses of their own.

It makes my day to know that I had a hand in these people’s success, and I love hearing their stories.

But…

If the truth were to be told, my wife Lisa had one heck of an impact in these people’s lives as well.

During the morning of the first day, we were all sitting in the living room of our home and I began sharing a very personal story with the attendees.

A story about Lisa and I, that I’d NEVER shared with anyone, until this day.

As I began sharing this story, Lisa was in the kitchen putting the finishing touches on lunch, and I could see the tears come to her eyes as she re-lived the experience through my words.

Finally, it got to the point where she couldn’t contain herself any longer.

She walked into the living room and shared her version of the story.

And though it was similar to mine, her perspective on it was quite different.

As she shared from her heart, I watched in amazement as everyone in the room became completely engaged in what she was saying.

That’s when it dawned on me – Lisa has some incredible insight to offer people like yourself.

You see, she’s been with me through thick and thin.

She remembers what it was like before.

And like me, she hasn’t forgot where we came from.

There’s one conversation that REALLY stands out.

Lisa came to me one day in the office several years ago, after we’d finished paying our monthly bills, and she says, “Honey, do you realize that you give more munee to Matt Furey every month than it costs us to live in our home”?

And I replied, “You’re right, but because I do, we’re going to be far better off in the future than we are right now. This is an investment that will come back to us many times over”.

From that point forward, she simply trusted in me and I can’t tell you how much that meant.

Especially since my first wife left me because she had no faith in me at all.

But…

To hear Lisa tell her version of this story at the Home Office Field Trip brought me to tears as well.

And when I saw how everyone in the group responded to her, it let me know that Lisa has some incredible stories and experiences to share.

Maybe you have family members or a spouse who are less than supportive of you.

Maybe they’ve voiced their frustration.

Maybe it’s even putting a strain on your relationship.

If that’s the case, be sure to share this email with them.

Lisa and I made it this far, and if we can do it, so can you.

How Does He Do It

People are always asking me how I write so many great emails, and come up with so many topics to discuss.

They think they could never do such a thing, yet they would be wrong.

So allow me to let you in on a little secret.

I simply write like I talk.

I write just as if I were sitting across the table from you, and we were having a one-on-one conversation.

After all, this is how you create a bond with people.

This is how you make friendships.

This is how you create an emotional connection that will have a deep and long-lasting impact on people’s lives.

You see, people don’t care about you or me.

They don’t care about the products we have to offer.

They don’t care what we have to say.

Until…

They know that we care about, and can empathize with them.

If you look at my last few emails, you’ll notice that I wrote about events in my life.

I wrote about a flight I took to Phoenix, and the amazing 16-year old young man that I met on that flight.

I also wrote about a trip to the dentist office and the interesting experience I had while there.

Both of these emails gave you a glimpse into my world, but more importantly, they each contained valuable information.

By writing emails the way I do, and just being myself, it lets you know that I’m a “real” person.

It allows you to get to know me.

It let’s you know that I’ve been where you’re at.

And… it gives you hope that you truly can have MORE out of life.

And that’s the truth.

I’m the least likely guy to be sitting here right now, talking to you about these kinds of things.

If you would have told me several years ago that I’d be where I’m at right now, helping change your life for the better, I would’ve called you crazy.

But that’s exactly what’s happened.

And every morning, I give thanks for the opportunity.

You too can do the same thing, and have the same kind of results in your own life.

You too can reach out to others, and change their lives.

You too can “pay it forward”.

And when you do, people will automatically be attracted to you.

They’ll want to be a part of what you’ve got going on.

And yes, they’ll want to buy what you have to offer.

PFS… On And Off The Field

On Thursday – April 2nd I was at Gate A2, getting ready to board my plane from Seattle to Phoenix for Joe Polish’s Mastermind Group, when I noticed a young man wearing an interesting sweatshirt.

This kid couldn’t have been more than 16 years old, and his sweatshirt read, “PFS… On And Off The Field”.

I was curious as to what it meant, but because I had to get on the plane, I didn’t have an opportunity to ask him about it.

At least not at that moment.

As fate would have it, this young man wound up sitting right next to me on the flight to Phoenix.

What made this more interesting was the fact that I was in first class.

You don’t see many teenagers, traveling by themselves in the first class cabin.

I gave him a chance to get settled in and get comfortable before I popped the big question.

“So…”, I said, “What up with your sweatshirt. What does PFS mean”?

“PFS is Practicing For Success”, he replied.

I thought to myself, hmmmm, that sure is interesting.

Practicing For Success… On And Off The Field.

My question sparked a conversation that lasted the entire 2 hour and 14 minute flight to Phoenix.

And in the process, I discovered that this 16-year old young man is gonna go FAR in life.

Truth is, he’s already accomplished things that most would think impossible, yet he’s just getting started.

And the reason – His football coach has instilled him with the right attitude.

You see, he understands that in his current endeavor, which happens to be football in this case, he’s “Practicing For Success”.

By that, he understands that he’s going to make mistakes, as we all do. And that’s part of practicing.

But here’s the real kicker.

This concept is true for EVERY area of our life, whether it be relationships, sports, or business.

My mentor, Matt Furey, taught me this some time back.

Since coming to the realization that it’s okay to make mistakes, and that the process of making mistakes leads us to HUGE breakthroughs, my entire way of thinking has changed.

I used to be afraid of mistakes, but NOT any more.

In fact, I LOVE making mistakes.

To be more accurate, I LOVE learning from my mistakes.

When it comes to business, most people find themselves paralyzed, unable to move on to success, because they’re afraid of making a mistake.

It may surprise you to know that even today, I make a ton of mistakes in my business, and will make many more in the future.

But… I’ll never make the same mistake twice.

I make a mistake, learn from that mistake, make necessary adjustments and continue moving forward.

This is called “Practicing For Success”.

And the good news is, when you’ve made enough mistakes (and learned from them), you’ll find that you’ve become more successful than you ever imagined – in ALL areas of your life.

So get out there and make some mistakes.

Get out there and “Practice For Success”.

Art Of The Bounce Back

Last Wednesday I had an appointment to get my teeth cleaned.

As I sat in my dentist’s waiting room, I noticed the current copy of Reader’s Digest sitting on the table next to me, and one of the headlines IMMEDIATELY jumped out.

It read, “How These People Bounced Back From The Lowest Point In Their Lives”.

Upon seeing this headline, I immediately picked up the magazine, found the story, and immersed myself in it.

There’s a BIG lesson here about the importance of headlines, but that’ll have to wait for another day.

As I read through each of the personal accounts described in the story, I had incredible sympathy for these people.

Reading their stories caused me to have an emotional connection with them, even though I didn’t know them personally.

But…

What I really took away from these stories was the fact that every one of these individuals bounced back from the lowest point in their lives.

You see, every day we’re faced with adversities, challenges and hurdles.

Problem is, most folks make a mountain of this kind of thing.

We’ve all heard the saying, “making a mountain out of a mole hill”, and that’s exactly what most people do.

I remember a recent conversation I had with a client, and how excited I was for him.

The two of us had been brainstorming a plan, that when implemented, would give him a HUGE windfall.

Truth is, this guy was sitting on a goldmine.

A couple days later, I hear back from him. He informs me that he hit a snag in our plan, and as a result, he didn’t want to continue on with it.

As he’s telling me this, I’m thinking to myself, “Are you off your rocker? You’re going to let a little thing like this stand in your way”.

And just is case you’re wondering, yes, he allowed that small obstacle to bring the entire project to an immediate halt.

As you read my account of this, you might wonder how he could do such a thing, yet the truth is, people do this all the time.

They continually talk themselves out of doing what they want to do.

When I think back to when I made the decision to quit fishing in Alaska and start my own business, things could have easily come to a grinding halt.

My wife at the time got angry with me for having such an idea, and told me that if I insisted on going through with such a crazy scheme, she was going to divorce me.

And that’s exactly what she did.

She filed for divorce, and left me.

Talk about a low point in my life.

That had to be the lowest point of my ENTIRE life.

But…

The good news is – I bounced back.

And I bounced back bigger then ever.

So, here’s my advice for you, go pick up the latest edition of Reader’s Digest, the May 2009 issue and read that article for yourself.

And as you do, start planning YOUR big bounce back.

The Munee Grubbing Jerk Is Back

On Wednesday – April 1st, I told you about the guy that sent me an email, telling me that I was a munee-grubbing jerk.

It was obvious that this guy hadn’t been around long enough to know who I REALLY am, or what my true intentions are.

Had he known the REAL me, he would’ve never made such an accusation.

I received such a HUGE response on this subject, that I thought it only fitting to share some of it with you.

Great email.

Just thought I would drop you a line and let you know I am about two days away from launching my first website and several days from my second one.

I invested in your automatic income system, reviewed it, then left it on the shelf to go find the next great thing.

Isn’t it funny how the next great thing is, when you finally realize it, is right in front of you and always has been?

I was introduced to you by Daegan Smith, and I did the same thing with his material. Now after having a huge mind shift and realizing the only one who can make my life and that of my family better is me, I got my butt in gear and over the past six weeks I’ve been putting in place the infrastructure of my business.

My goals with the two websites, to help people I come in contact with, assist them in having and creating a better life. Perhaps they too will understand they can have a positive influence on the lives of those around them, just as the two of you have had with me.

This message from you left me astonished that a subscriber would think that of you after all you do for others. I thought about this thru the night and woke up remembering something that you might enjoy: The Boy in the Candy Store

The little boy looked through the glass in the counter which contained the candy. He couldn’t get his grubby little hands on the candy and he went away sad.

There are two ways for this boy to address this problem: One is to be distressed and to wonder why everyone in the world can’t have all the candy they want.

The other way is to see the problem and to realize there has to be an opportunity here if candy costs money and he has no money he looks for a way to get money and he finds it and goes back and purchases his candy.

One is an entrepreneur.

The other is a destroyer for he will always resent not having what the others have.

And so you are right.

There will always be those who resent you for having anything they don’t have.

The good thing is, folks do see things differently and don’t all wish to sit in the same
chair. Think what a battle that would be.

Munee Grubbing Jerk

On Tuesday evening of last week, I was flipping through the onscreen teevee guide when a listing on the Biography Channel jumped out and grabbed me.

It was a biography on Jon Bon Jovi.

I HAD to see this.

Now…

Whether you like Jon, or his band – you’ll find this story quite interesting to say the least.

I was a huge fan of Jon and Bon Jovi back in the 80’s, but after seeing his biography, I discovered many things about him that I previously didn’t know.

Funny, isn’t it. We think we know someone pretty well, but when it comes right down to it, we find that we don’t know them at all.

That’s because we only get to see them from the outside looking in, and many times this doesn’t give us an accurate picture of who they REALLY are.

Such is the case with Jon Bon Jovi.

For the last several years, Jon has been on a mission to help homeless people by donating millyuns to Habitat For Humanity.

In fact, if you go to his website at BonJovi.com and click on the “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” video, you’ll see that this video was made on site, at one of the home building projects Jon financed.

As I watched his biography last week, it was obvious that Jon has a very special place in his heart for helping others.

He’s a very giving person to say the least.

But…

Here’s what’s so interesting about all this.

The day after seeing Jon’s biography, I was browsing his website when a friend of mine called.

As we were talking, I told him to sign online so he could take a look at the site for himself.

When he did, the first words out of his mouth were, “Yeah, his site is just like all those band websites, trying to sell their stuff”.

“Interesting”, I thought to myself.

Yes, it’s true, Jon definitely sells products on his website, but in my book, that’s a smart move.

That’s called marketing, and it’s a GOOD thing.

But the fact is, and here’s the thing most folks don’t know (including myself – until recently):

The purpose of Jon’s business is to make a lasting and positive impact on other people’s lives.

That’s his entire goal.

And that’s the same goal I’ve had for a long time now.

My clients know this, and if you spoke with any of them, without hesitating, they’d tell you that Kevin is NOT motivated by munee.

They’d tell you that what motivates Kevin is helping other people.

Providing them with resources and tools that will allow them to have the lifestyle of their choosing.

And knowing that I had a hand in making that happen – THAT’S what motivates me.

One you understand, and apply this concept for yourself, the munee simply comes in, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it.

But…

From an outsider’s viewpoint – someone who doesn’t know me personally, or know what I’m REALLY about – their view may be different.

In fact, I just got an email yesterday from a gentleman who referred to me as “a munee-grubbing jerk”.

Well, to be completely candid, he didn’t use the word jerk, but I don’t want to repeat the word he really used.

After reading his comments, I decided it best to remove his name from my subscriber list, so I wouldn’t offend him any further.

He obviously doesn’t know me, and it’s a wasted effort to try and talk him into liking me.

As you continue to move forward in life, as more people find out about you and as you become more successful, it’s important to understand – you can’t please everyone.

But…

You certainly CAN make a HUGE difference in the lives of those who choose to associate themselves with you.

The only question is:

Will you?

Is your heart in the right spot?

Is your number one goal to use your business to have a positive and lasting impact on other people’s lives?

And let me tell you, if it is, prepare for the influx of munee.

Munee is going to be attracted to you, almost as if by magic.

And like I said earlier, it’s going to give me great satisfaction, knowing that I had a hand in helping you make it happen.
