Experience = Predictability

Last Saturday I experienced one of the best thrill rides of my life.

Then – on Sunday, I had to go for a repeat performance.

The ride is called the “Hollywood Towers Hotel”, and let me tell you, it’s INTENSE.

It’s an elevator that hurls you to the top of a 13-story building, and then drops you back to the bottom floor.

When you get to the top of the building, the elevator doors open, at which point you discover how high you really are.

To make things more interesting, a photo is taken of you at this precise moment in time, capturing the terror on the face of every first-time rider.

As you can see, I’ve circled our family in yellow.

Lisa and I are in the second row, while Kaitlynn and her two friends are in the first row.

Take careful notice of the expression on their faces.

By doing so, you’ll see that this truly was a scary ride for them – especially for Lisa and Kaitlynn.

But…

Notice the girl directly behind me in the photo.

It wasn’t scary for her.

Why?

Because she’d been there before.

She already knew what to expect, and as a result, she was simply reliving the experience because she enjoyed it.

I too decided to relive the experience on Sunday, along with Kaitlynn’s girlfriends.

Knowing that a photo would be taken of us, we decided to make it a good one.

Once again, I’ve circled us in yellow.

Notice how the three of us are acting as though we’re bored to tears. The two girls are yawning and I’m checking the time on my watch.

This experience brings up an important point.

When most people think about going into business for themselves, it’s a scary thought.

It’s scary because they don’t know what to expect.

It’s scary because they’re afraid of the unknown.

It’s scary because they’ve never experienced it for themselves before.

But…

When you meet someone like me, who’s already been running a massively successful automated online business since the year 2000, all those fears are put to rest.

Why?

Because I’m able to give you a step-by-step roadmap, and all you have to do is follow it.

By doing so, you know what to expect, in advance.

The unknown is made known, in advance.

You get to experience success, in advance.

Power Of The “Take Away”

I got an email Wednesday morning from my friend Phil, and let me tell you, it immediately caught my attention.

The subject line read, “Last Halibut trip of 2009 this Sunday”.

Talk about a take-away.

Let me give you a little background, so you’ll understand why this is so powerful.

Phil has been a charter fishing boat captain for most of his adult life.

He operates his own boat, The Ultimate, in Westport, Washington.

If you’ve been with me for any period of time, you’ll recall me telling you about our family fishing trip to Westport last year, and how all the kids got sick while we were fishing on Phil’s boat.

Well…

Since going on that trip, I’ve been getting regular emails from Phil and his wife, keeping me up to date on the year’s fishing season.

And I have to say, they’re great at marketing their fishing charter business.

All of their emails contain photos from the weeks fishing trip, showing all the big catches.

Photos just like the one I’ve shared with you here.

Now, for the avid fisherman, this is a HUGE deal.

Seeing other people catching big fish, knowing that you weren’t part of the action, makes you want to book another trip on Phil’s boat.

But, the email he sent last Wednesday will REALLY strike a chord with all the die-hard fishermen (and fisherwomen).

Fisheries has just notified me that we’ve only got ONE more Sunday to fish Halibut out of Westport!

This trip will include Big Ling fishing!

The coolest part of this trip is SALMON opens this date, so any legal Salmon caught are KEEPERS!

Last Sunday was by far our best average for Halibut this season.

We have the derby leader at 70lbs! Picture above. NOTE FROM KEVIN: This is the same photo I shared with you here.

Most of the catch last Sunday were over 35lbs!

We will be taking only 18 anglers aboard, so call early to reserve. Last week we sold out in 2 days.

Now THAT’S one heck of an example of take-away marketing.

And there’s a valuable lesson here.

It’s important to use take-away marketing in YOUR business as well.

But…

Don’t do it like an amateur.

Instead – do it like I do, and do it like Phil does it in his emails.

Be honest, and give people the real scoop because they’ll appreciate you for it.

There’s no need to make up bogus reasons for your deadline, especially when it’s so easy to come up with legitimate reasons for a take-away offer.

Exposing Yourself

One of the biggest mistakes people make, especially when it comes to their business, is not capitalizing on exposure.

As you know, our daughter Kaitlynn is part of a dance group called Star Energy, and they recently got invited to perform at Disneyland.

This was an incredible opportunity, but the fact is, it was a one-time event.

They performed one time, and that’s it.

But…

By taking plenty of photos and video, Kaitlynn will be able to get a TON of leverage from this opportunity.

And yes, it will prove incredibly valuable for her in the future.

You see, by documenting this experience, she’ll be able to share it with countless people.

Most folks don’t think about this kind of thing (to their detrtiment), but I trust that you will, from this point forward.

Think about this for a minute.

My family and I just got home from our Disneyland trip, and here I am, already sharing all these family photos and videos with you.

Many would mistakenly think that it serves no purpose – yet they would be wrong.

They’d say, “For crying out loud Kevin, you’re supposed to be teaching people how to make money on the internet. Nobody cares about your family photos or videos” – yet they would be wrong.

Because this is the deal:

Nobody cares about the products or services that you and I are selling.

That is, until they have a meaningful connection with us.

Until they know we relate with them.

Until they know we care about them.

Until they know we’re qualified to help them.

And the way we create this connection is by being completely candid.

By sharing our personal lives.

By sharing our experiences.

By sharing both our successes and our failures.

THIS is how you create a meaningful connection with other people.

If you expect to make a great living on the internet – one that will provide the lifestyle you want – I highly suggest that you watch what I do – and watch very closely.

Race Day Follow Up

Brock And Mickey Mouse

We just got back home from vacationing at Disneyland last night, and let me tell you, we had an incredible time.

Kaitlynn and her dance group got some MAJOR exposure.

We got to spend some quality time together as a family.

Brock had his first big experience (though he probably won’t remember it).

And now…

I also have a lot of stories, experiences and lessons to share with you – as well as some great photos and video.

Being the proud daddy that I am, I couldn’t waste any time sharing these photos with you, but – I’m also going to tie them into an important lesson.

As you can see in the first photo above, when Brock met Mickey Mouse for the first time, he immediately grabbed Mickey’s nose and started squeezing it.

The look of shock and amazement on my face is hard to miss, as this took me by surprise, even though it probably shouldn’t have.

You see, Brock and I play this little game.

He likes to squeeze MY nose, and every time he does, I reply by saying, “honk, honk”.

It’s as if I’ve conditioned him to do this.

Each time he squeezes my nose, he fully expects me to respond the way I always do, by saying, “honk, honk”.

Truth is, he was expecting Mickey to respond the same way.

And yes, he was looking for the same response from Pluto.

There’s no doubt that Brock was wondering why they didn’t respond correctly.

The same is true for you and I.

We’ve come to expect specific responses from specific situations.

And…

If we don’t get the response we’ve come to expect, it takes us by surprise.

This is a HUGE lesson in human nature.

I’ll give you an example.

When I bought my first new vehicle in 1985, at the ripe ole age of 19, it was NOT an enjoyable experience at all.

To say that the car salesman was pushy would be far too polite.

This guy was over the top, and as a result, the whole experience left a really bad taste in my mouth.

For years afterwards, I carried this belief that all car sales people were pushy, and I dreaded the thought of ever having another “car buying experience” like my first one.

But…

In November of 2006, when I bought the Hummer, the salesman wasn’t pushy at all.

In fact, he went out of his way to make my buying experience completely enjoyable.

And yes, he succeeded.

As you can imagine, this took me by surprise.

Why?

Because I didn’t get the response I expected.

Even though I was excited about buying a new Hummer, I was NOT excited about dealing with another car salesman.

But, by the time the deal was done, I discovered that my beliefs, which I’d been carrying around for 21 years, were completely false.

Not all car sales people are pushy.

Not all car sales people will leave you with a bad taste in your mouth.

Not all car sales people are rude.

Truth is, some of them are geniuses at making sure you enjoy the entire process.

So let me ask you…

How many false beliefs are you holding right now?

Maybe you’ve had bad experience with a car salesperson, and now hold the false belief that ALL car sales people are “bad”.

Maybe you’ve experienced failure in the past, and now hold the false belief that you’re doomed to failure.

Maybe you’ve struggled financially in the past (or even at the moment), and now hold the false belief that money is hard to come by.

If you’re holding false beliefs such as these, you need to recognize them for what they are, and understand that you can change them at any moment.

The way you change them is by associating with others who have already done so.

Nascar Racing

My good friend Kevin recently got to ride in a race car.

And not just any ole race car either.

This was one of those Nascar race cars.

Thought you might enjoy seeing this, especially since it’s so unique.

I don’t know about you, but this is what life is all about.

This is why we do what we do.

The Inner Economy

I was listening to an incredible CD interview yesterday morning as I drove to a doctor’s appointment.

On this interview, they were talking about the difference between the external economy, and the internal economy – and how each of these economies are currently playing themselves out.

Because I’ve been keeping such a close eye on this for quite awhile now, this particular conversation really hit home.

Let me give you some of the details, because you’re gonna find this VERY interesting.

The external economy is everything we see going on around us.

The stuff we see on the news.

The bailout fiasco.

People loosing their jobs.

The majority of the population participates in this economy.

Problem is, this economy is fear-based.

And make no doubt about it, people who participate in this external economy are in a serious state of fear right now.

Even if they haven’t been directly affected by it, they’re still in fear.

But…

There’s also the inner economy, which only a small percentage (about 3-5%) of the population participate in.

Yet these are the people who are having incredible breakthroughs in their businesses, their relationships and their personal lives.

And yes, it’s happening right now. Right under your nose.

I can attest to this, because I’m part of several mastermind and coaching groups, where everyone in each group is reporting incredible successes in all areas of their lives.

Heck, I’ve been having the same kind of success in my own endeavors.

So, how could this be?

How is it that 5% of the population is doing so well, while the other 95% are currently in a state of fear?

Well, the answer is simple.

It’s because we don’t allow outside influences (the external economy) to influence our behavior or our actions.

Instead, we associate with like-minded people who participate in the inner economy.

The inner economy is where WE are in control of our destiny.

It’s where WE are empowered.

It’s where WE accomplish the things that most would call impossible.

And let me tell you, when groups of people, who operate in the inner economy, get together and join forces, amazing things happen.

I’ve said this before, but it’s worth mentioning again.

There were more millionaires created during the great depression, than during any other time in history.

Problem is, you probably didn’t know this. That’s because the media (external economy) only reported the tragic news of the time.

Seems to me, that’s what’s going on right now.

Yet the truth is, millionaires are also being created right now.

So the question you need to ask yourself is, “Which economy do I want to participate in”?

If you choose the inner economy, then stay tuned, cause I’ve got plenty more coming your way, and it’s gonna be a great ride.
