It’s All Heart From Here

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

This video shows the incredible relationship between Brock and his coach.

I first found this video several years back, before my own son Brock was born.

If you were with me then, you might remember me sharing it with you.

But now, at this point in my life, it has a whole new meaning.

Not only because I’m a father to Brock, who’s now 21 month’s old, but because my commitment to those I coach is SO much more than it was just a few short years ago.

These days, as a coach, I’m operating on an entirely different level.

This video illustrates the kind of coach I strive to be.

Daddy’s Little Helper

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

Brock is 21 months old now, as of last week.

And I’ve got to say, he’s becoming quite the little helper around the house.

He’ll help mom with the laundry, pick up his toys when you ask, and he even helps unload the dishwasher.

If you saw the video I shared with you awhile back, you also know that he loves to come into my home office.

I’ve all but given up on trying to keep him out, though I do bungee strap the french doors on occasion, in an effort to at least slow him down if I’m on a phone consultation or something.

The video above shows Brock and his cousin Mason, not being so helpful.

Instead, they’re in the office – having fun, and creating a little havoc.

When I talk about these kind of goings on in my home, some people wonder how I deal with it.

And the truth is, I deal with it pretty much as I did in the video above.

I stop what I’m doing, acknowledge that Brock is in the room, and give him the attention he wants.

Depending on what I’m doing at the moment, I may only be able to give him a short amount of time, but I try to never ignore him.

Some folks would say that I’m not very professional.

They’d say I have a business to run, and I shouldn’t allow Brock in the office while I’m working.

But the fact is, Brock (and the rest of my family) are the reason why I do what I do in the first place.

They’re my motivation.

They’re why I get out of bed each day.

And to me, that’s what life is all about.

Thankfully I’ve got the perfect business, that fits perfectly into the kind of lifestyle that I want to live.

If you too would like to have a lifestyle-business like mine, then you’re certainly in the right place.

For the last several days, I’ve been alluding to something big coming your way very soon.

And trust me, it’s gonna be BIG.

So stay tuned.

I’ll be making the announcement soon.

Our Haiti Fundraising Results

Tuesday, January 26th, 2010

I always hate it when you participate in a fundraiser, and the person or organization hosting it, doesn’t follow up and give you the results of your efforts.

Lisa and I have put together a short video to let you know how much we raised for the children of Haiti, and how we’ll be distributing the funds.

There’s a twist to this video as well, so be sure to have a Kleenex handy.

I want to thank you for participating in this event, because we did a LOT of good here.

In addition to raising funds for the children of Haiti, we also inspired a lot of people, and going forward from here, we’re going to motivate and inspire a whole lot more people.

Almost 300 of you took the time to get involved in this project – by answering one simple question.

Yet your answers to this question were truly profound.

If you haven’t yet taken a look at all the incredible posts, you’ll find them here Answers To The Question – “What Would YOU Do?”

Seeing all these posts has confirmed that I’m on the right track with my plans for this year.

As promised, I’ve got a HUGE project in the works, and will be unveiling it very soon.

And those of you who took the time to post your comments for the Haiti project are going to be especially interested in this.

This Is SOOOO Lame

Monday, January 25th, 2010

We have a large casino and resort near our home, and from time to time Lisa and I like to stay there.

They’ve got beautiful relaxing suites, it’s a great place to get away for the evening, and it’s convenient.

Since we’ve stayed there before, the “casino marketing department” obviously has our contact information, including our email address.

The image above is an actual email they just sent me, promoting their upcoming Valentine’s Day festivities.

Being the business owner and marketer that I am, this kind of advertising drives me up a wall.

For crying out loud, we stay at the casino resort several times a year, and we always stay in one of their high end suites.

After all, when we go there, the purpose of our visit is to relax.

They would have been much better off sending me a personal email (without the fancy-schmancy photos).

In that email, they could have reminded me of how nice our last visit was, include a photo of the suite we stayed in, and promise to have a Valentine’s gift basket or something waiting for us in our room when we return.

That would go a whole lot further, and it would definitely get a response from me.

But this…

This impersonal email isn’t getting any kind of response.

Well – other than using it here, as an example of what NOT to do.

I say this all the time, and I’ll say it again.

Business is all about creating relationships with your customers or clients.

And the way you accomplish that is by communicating with them on a personal level.

The same way I’m communicating with you right now.

Crisis Breeds Opportunity…

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

Crisis breeds opportunity, and in this case, it was the opportunity to do something really special.

Thanks for your part in raising funds for the children of Haiti.

We did a VERY good thing here.

I’m going to let it ride for another day or so, just to make sure that everyone gets a chance to participate before I write the check and send it off.

I have to say, the answers to my question, were truly inspiring.

To remind you, the question was…

“What would you do if you could do anything at all, and get paid for doing it”?

It also confirms my belief in the direction I want to be going for 2010, which I’ll be telling you more about in the very near future.

For right now, take a look at this post from Neno.

He’s also the one who sent in the amazing photo above.

He’s not from the United States, so his English is a little broken, but you’ll get the idea.

= = =

Neno says:

Hallo Kevin,

I enjoy taking photoes (I survive – quite good – in Caribeans as free lance photographer), I enjoy sailing (I skipper sailing boats for long time), I enjoy staying with my kids at the sea, I enjoy teaching people diving (specialy dificoult people, with stress,fears,..), if I can be payed well for doing this that will be great.

As I know that this is not easy possible.
I prefer to be taught about your Internet busines and have proposal for you:

You teach me to be succesfull marketer or how ever you want to call it, and you are my guest as much as you want in my house on the island by the sea in Adriatic sea.

Do not say you can pay resort holidays anywhere, by me, this is unforgetable adventure, for all, kids specialy.
And If I get answer from you I’ll sand you some photoes.

Actualy this is my chalenge to you.

I have time enough, and I realy want to “earn money from home”, you sound honest and respectfull, and I can make it public, so people can know how I am doing.

About Haiti kids, I’m sure they will apreciate your gift, I did mine here in Europe already.

= = =

For Neno, and the rest of you who have such vivid goals and aspirations…

Be sure to stay tuned, because I’ve got something REALLY exciting coming your way very, very soon.

Kicking In For Haiti

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

For the last week, the devastation following the earthquake in Haiti has been at the top of our minds.

I was browsing one of my favorite blogs yesterday when I ran across a great idea, and immediately thought to myself, “What a great way to get involved in the relief effort”.

If you’d like to join me, click the photo above to donate via UNICEF.

Post your comments and tell me what you would do for a job if you could do anything in the world.

If you could be doing anything you wanted to do (because you loved doing it), and you got compensated extremely well, what would you be doing?

I’ll then kick in $5 per comment, up to $2,000.00 to help the children in Haiti.

When I saw this done on the blog I was visiting, I was amazed by all the comments that were posted.

I’m betting that we can get the same kind of response here.

And when we do, the children of Haiti will thank us.

Dedicated to your success,
Kevin Thompson

P.S. Tell everyone you know about this project. I want to be able to write a $2,000.00 check for the children of Haiti.

Will Smith’s Wisdom

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

I’ve long been a fan of Will Smith, and think he’s an incredible actor.

After seeing him interviewed by Barbara Walters for her Top 10 Fascinating People Series, I was even MORE impressed.

That interview pales in comparison to this.

Check out some of Will Smith’s wisdom for yourself.

Pain… Or Pleasure, It’s Your Choice

Friday, January 15th, 2010

I’m in the process of doing some research, and a couple days ago I started reading Dave Ramsey’s book, The Total Money Makeover.

As I’m thumbing through it I discover that in the process of writing the book, he had a big contest, and the family who had the biggest financial transformation would be declared the winner.

The winners were Chance and Kimberly Morrow.

At the time they entered the contest, they were over $56,000.00 in debt, and had a yearly income of only $35,000.00.

In their current situation it would take them forty years to pay off their debt.

Upon joining the contest, they immediately cut up every credit card they had.

The then slash every expense they could, no matter how small it was.

They had a couple of garage sales, sold almost everything they owned, and used the funds to pay off their debt.

Chance also started working a ton of overtime at his work.

And within 12 months, they were able to cut their debt by $14,000.00.

Seeing this success, they decided to ramp their efforts up even more.

Chance took a second job delivering pizzas five nights a week.

As a result, his family never saw him, but they were on a mission – to attack the debt.

They also decided to sell their home, so they could take the equity, and use it to pay off the remaining debt.

They were debt-free.

As I finished reading their story, I’m thinking to myself – what a painful process.

This family scrimped, saved, cut back in every area of their life, worked every waking moment, sacrificed their time together – and they did it for who knows how long, in order to pay off their debt.

Talk about pain.

Yet there are countless people in the book who have done the same thing, and endured the same painful process.

And there are THOUSANDS more (who didn’t make the book), but have endured the same painful process, so in the end, they can be debt-free.

When you look at what Dave Ramsey does, there’s no doubt that he’s helping people.

But let me tell you, it ain’t easy to follow Dave’s advice.

Like I said, it’s painful – REALLY painful.

What if there were a better way?

And what if it wasn’t painful?

What if the process was actually fun?

When people follow my lead, they do much more than work their tails off, enduring an extremely painful process, in order to become debt-free, and get themselves to ground zero again.

They never feel like they’re working, because they love what they’re doing.

They’re making income throughout the entire process, and it continues to increase each year.

They’re paying off debt – if they want to.

They have more income than needed to provide for their own family.

They have extra income to put in the bank for later.

They have extra income to give to those who are less fortunate.

They’re living a life that most people only get to dream about.

Sound interesting?

Then stay tuned.

I’ll be making a big announcement very soon, and you won’t want to miss it.

The One Gallon Challenge

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

The other day I was talking with my friend Kevin and he was telling me about a Facebook project that his son Cameron was working on.

It’s called “The One Gallon Challenge”.

If you go to Facebook and do a search for “One Gallon Challenge”, you’ll find Cameron’s page.

I’ll even make it easy for you.

Here’s a direct link – The One Gallon Challenge

And as of this moment, he’s already got 51 fans – myself included.

When someone first glances at Cameron’s page, they might think to themselves, “What in the heck is this all about”?

But let me give you some behind-the-scenes info, so you’ll understand what an awesome teenager Cameron is, and the difference he’s trying to make in this world.

The reason Cameron started this project in the first place was to make people aware of a serious problem that’s going on in our high schools today – and in specific, our high school football teams.

Apparently, there’s an alarming number of high school football players who are dying as a result of dehydration.

In browsing the internet, I even found an article published by Time Magazine.

It’s titled “7 Ways To Kill A Football Player”.

I also found a recent article about Edwin Miller, a 16-year old High school football player from Germantown, Maryland who died from dehydration just a few months ago.

Since Cameron is a high school football player as well, this subject REALLY hit home with him.

That’s why he felt so compelled to do something about it.

Talk about an honorable undertaking.

There’s a huge lesson here, and I don’t know if Cameron’s even picked up on it or not.

You can bet he will though, especially if he sees my comments.

He just started this project, and in a very short amount of time, he’s already got 51 fans.

That’s because he’s passionate about what he’s got to say.

And he wants to make a difference in this world.

As time goes on, and word continues to spread about The One Gallon Challenge, it will attract more and more fans.

People will then begin sharing personal stories and experiences.

In the near future, this project could have one heck of a following.

Yet none of it would’ve been possible, had Cameron not decided to step up to the plate.

So let me ask you…

What are you passionate about?

What kind of impact do YOU want to make in this world?

What’s stopping you?

And of course, the answer to that last question is – NOTHING.

There’s nothing stopping you.

I also predict that Cameron’s Facebook project is going to provide him with a valuable life experience that will serve him for years and years to come.

I trust that it’s already serving YOU as well.

Dedicated to your success,
Kevin Thompson

P.S. If you have friends or family members who are high school athletes, or have children who are high school athletes, be sure to share Cameron’s Facebook project with them. Here’s the link again – The One Gallon Challenge

This Will Make Your Day

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

During the Holiday Season I shared a couple of videos with you, and let you know about the awesome stuff we were doing through the Thompson Family Foundation.

Some of you even mailed us donations, and I want to thank you for that.

Your donation went to a VERY good cause.

I also sent you an email, letting you know what my friend Jeff was up to.

He and his family also have a foundation, and they did some awesome stuff too.

I was just talking with Jeff yesterday and he promised to send me the video above.

After watching it, I HAD to share it with you.

It shows what he, his wife, and their 5 young boys did over the holidays, and how they make a HUGE impact on other people’s lives.

If this doesn’t make your day, I don’t know what will.
