The “WOW Experience”

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

Our 3-year old son Brock LOVES trains.

Like most boys his age, he’s totally into Thomas the Train, and Chuggington as well.

He’s also got a huge collection of miniature trains that he plays with almost every day.

We recently spent a Saturday in Seattle, but instead of driving, we took the train.

As you can see in the photo above, the conductor even let Brock wear his hat.

Needless to say, it was an experience that he will never forget.

It’s what I call a “WOW Experience”.

So… the question is, “Are you delivering an unforgettable “WOW Experience” for the people who come to you”?

You probably saw the recent blog post, and the email I sent you, talking about the new service I’m getting ready to offer… and how I’m going to do so at NO CHARGE.

As you can imagine, the response to this was HUGE.

At the time I’m writing this, 89 people took the time to give me their feedback, and as a result, we’re going to move forward with this project.

My wife Lisa will be hosting these calls in the very near future, and we’re not going to charge a penny for them.

It’s simply going to be a HUGE value-added service that we can offer you.

While many of you will choose to participate in these calls with Lisa, the real purpose of them will be to help your family as a whole, by offering support for your spouse and other family members.

I can only imagine how many lives will be impacted by this service, and like I said, we’re not even going to charge for it.

Our goal in doing this is to bring families closer together, and I know we’ll accomplish that.

And make no doubt about it… my wife Lisa is also going to get great satisfaction from this project.

She’s been looking for a way to get more involved in the business.

A way that she could make an impact on other people’s lives.

A way that she could deliver value, and get great satisfaction from doing it.

And now, thanks to the conversation that took place last April, we discovered the perfect fit, for my wife Lisa, and for everyone she interacts with in this way.

It’s going to be a win-win situation for everyone.

Most people (especially my competitors) will look at this and see it as a strategy.

And as a result, they’ll try and copy what I’m doing.

Problem is, they won’t get the same kind of results, because their intent will be far different than my intent.

Here’s why:

I don’t view this as a marketing or business strategy at all.

I’m simply giving people what they want, and I’m doing it because I truly want to help you.

When you do something like this, and your intent is true, people will be able to sense that.

They can also sense when you’re just using another strategy to try and make a buck.

As I eluded to earlier, my real purpose behind this is treating people well, and making a positive impact on their lives.

Will I make additional income as a result of this?

You bet I will.

But the income will come as a direct result of the value I (or in this case… my wife Lisa) delivers.

And it won’t come from offering this particular service, because like I said, we’re not charging for it.

The added income will come as a result of the goodwill that we’ll instill in people.

They’ll naturally want to tell other people about what we’ve got going on, because they’re receiving so much value from it themselves.

Because we’re delivering a “WOW Experience”.

There’s a HUGE lesson here, and it’s one we can ALL learn from.

A Wife’s Perspective

Monday, September 19th, 2011

On April 1-2 of this year I hosted the Lifestyle-Business Experience here at my home in Arlington, Washington.

15 incredible entrepreneurs attended that event, and went home understanding the purpose of their lives… and their businesses.

That was the 3rd Lifestyle Business Experience I hosted, and you can be sure it won’t be the last.

Each year this event it gets more and more powerful, for the attendees, and for me.

A HUGE breakthrough came from last April’s event, and I have to be honest, I’m almost embarrassed that it’s taken me this long to act on it.

On the second day of the Lifestyle Business Experience, right before lunch, one of the Attendees, Daniel Draime (from Ocala, Florida) began sharing his situation.

A situation that would lead to the HUGE breakthrough I just mentioned.

He talked about the $5,000.00 investment to attend the 2-day event, and how difficult it was to convey the value of that investment to his wife, who did not attend.

The emotion was clearly evident as he began to share… “Here I am, half way through the second day”, he said, “having just had this incredible experience, and I don’t have a clue how to relate that experience to my wife when I get home.

She’s going to ask me what happened during the two days I was away, and try I as might, I don’t know how to put it into words.

I don’t know how to share what just happened, in a way that she’ll understand.

Can you help me with this”?

As he explained how he was feeling, my mind immediately went back to the many times I’d found myself in the same situation.

When I too had made a substantial investment to attend a seminar, take part in a mastermind meeting, or try to move my business forward.

When incredible experiences happened at those events.

When I got home, and tried to relay those experiences to my wife… and how my words were pale in comparison to what actually happened.

And yes, often times, my wife Lisa was left wondering if she was married to a crazy man.

Was her husband wasting his time, effort and money?

Why was her husband so driven to do what he does?

Why couldn’t he just be normal? (as if there is a “normal”)

I began to share some of my past experiences with Daniel, and as I did, Lisa overheard the conversation.

She’d been in the kitchen putting the finishing touches on lunch, and as she listened to Daniel talk about his situation, she felt compelled to stop what she was doing, walk into the living room, and share her own unique perspective.

Perspective from the spouse of an entrepreneur.

Perspective from a wife who sometimes wondered about the choices her husband made.

Perspective from a woman who wanted to be supportive of her man, but sometimes found it difficult.

What Lisa shared in that moment was nothing short of amazing, and yes, Daniel got just what he needed.

By the time she’d finished sharing, everyone in the room was in awe, and Daniel’s last comment was, “It sure would help a lot… if my wife could talk with you”.

In that moment, we also uncovered Lisa’s unique talent, gift and ability… which is to share her unique perspective, insight and advice with spouses and families of entrepreneurs.

Needless to say, in the process of me doing what I do over the last 15 years of my business career, and the fact that Lisa’s been by my side for most of that time… she’s got a unique and MASSIVELY VALUABLE perspective to share with you.

And like I said earlier, I feel bad that it’s taken me this long to let her share this gift with you.

And that’s EXACTLY what this is… a gift.

A gift from Lisa… to YOU.

She’d like to offer you a no-charge monthly phone call, that while it’s open to anyone, the core purpose is to offer perspective, insight, guidance, and support for spouses and families of entrepreneurs.

If this is something you’d find valuable, we need to hear from you.

You can post a simple “Yes” if you prefer, but if you have a specific question or comment for Lisa, be sure to post that as well.

It’s highly likely, that if you’re reading this, you’re the entrepreneur in the family (or at least one of them).

If that’s the case, be sure to share this with those that are most important to you and would get the most benefit from something like this.

Hopefully this has inspired you, but more importantly, I hope it opens the door to something of real and lasting value.

Something that will bring your family closer than you’ve ever been before.

Something that will be the catalyst for you to accept all the great things that await you.

If so, we’d love to hear from you.

And when we do, we’ll make plans to move forward with this ASAP.

Like I said, if there’s enough interest in this, Lisa will start hosting monthly calls for you, and there will be NO CHARGE.

This is going to be a way for her to deliver HUGE added value to you and your family by sharing her unique gift with you.

Let us hear from you, because this will be life-changing, that you can count on.

Talk About HUGE Mistakes…

Wednesday, September 14th, 2011

After looking at all the comments from last week’s post about mistakes… it appears that I’m in good company.

I say that, because making mistakes is a good thing.

Yep, you heard me right…

Making mistakes is a good thing. Truth is, it’s a GREAT thing.

One of my mentors, Matt Furey, likened mistakes to a guided missile.

Once fired, a guided missile is off course most of the time.

But, it continually makes course corrections, so that in the end, it hits the intended target, just as planned.

Mistakes are our course corrections, and like I said, they’re a great thing, if you learn from them.

Many of you had great insight to the “big mistake” I was talking about last week.

The “big mistake” that the overwhelming majority of business owners make, and once they do, it sends them down a path that they never imagined, intended or wanted to go down.

And in the end, it will most likely lead to the demise of their business, along with all their dreams, goals and aspirations.

Two of you hit the nail right on the head, and guessed correctly.

But…

Since this topic is SOOOOO important, I’m not going to let the cat out of the bag. At least not yet.

Instead, I’m going to host a training seminar so I can address this issue in greater detail, because yes, it’s THAT important.

As you may know, I’ve just finished a complete update of the Automatic income System (the 8th one since 2004), so I’ve been a little bit busy.

But as soon as I get a few key projects taken care of, I’ll get this event planned, and make sure to give you all the details.

As always, there will be no charge for it, so please don’t make the mistake of devaluing my offer, simply because there’s no price tag attached to it.

Call me crazy, but I recently read a book called “The Go-Giver”, and now I’m on a mission to give you MORE value than I ever have before.

I’ve always thought I’d been doing pretty well in that department, but we’re about to take the value proposition to a whole new level.

So stay tuned.

My mind is in overdrive, thinking of all the ways to make it happen.

Oh… and by the way… if you’ve got any specific suggestions… I’m all ears.

This Was Your Big Mistake

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

When it comes to business, the overwhelming majority of people (about 97%) make one BIG mistake.

This mistake is so monumental, that once it’s made, it sends the individual down a path that they never imagined, wanted, or intended to go down.

And in most cases, making this one mistake will eventually lead to the demise of a person’s business, and along with it… all their dreams, goals and aspirations.

Problem is…people don’t even realize they’ve made this mistake… until it’s too late.

Heck, I too made this mistake, and the outcome was detrimental to both my business, and my personal life.

Fortunately a close friend brought it to my attention, and I was able to fix it.

But had I not, I can assure you that I wouldn’t be here today, talking with you right now.

My life would have been entirely different, that’s for sure.

If your business seems like a constant struggle… all of that struggle stems from this one mistake.

If your life seems out of balance… it’s because you made this one mistake.

If you’re loosing sleep at night… yep, you guessed right… it’s all because of this one mistake.

Any ideas on what it is?

Post your thoughts below, and I’ll be back with a follow up next week

P.S. The good news is, this mistake CAN be fixed, and as I eluded, I’ve got the solution.

P.S.S. If you haven’t yet started a business of your own, consider yourself fortunate because once you know what I know, you can avoid all the frustration that comes from making this mistake, and be on the fast track to having a profitable, rewarding and massively successful business.

Our Daughter Left Home

Tuesday, September 6th, 2011

Our daughter Kaitlynn left home last week…

…and moved off to college.

Mama’s little girl has moved out on her won so to speak, and while it’s certainly been an emotional experience, it’s also been REALLY exciting.

All our lives we’ve heard that the way to success is to do good in school, so you can get into a good college, get a good education, and get a good job, working for a good company and make lots of moolah.

But when you look at the general population, what percentage of people who followed this advice are now living the life they always dreamed of?

Truth is, I don’t know the answer, but my guess is that it’s a pretty small number.

What if… instead… there was a college that not only gave you a great education, but also supported you 100% in finding and following your life’s passion.

Wouldn’t that be something?!

When I discovered that was the mission of Pacific Lutheran University. I was sold.

Heck, I’ve been committed to teaching people this for years.

I’ve done my best (and succeeded) in instilling this thought process in Kaitlynn.

And now, PLU is going to continue that process,

It was really interesting moving Kait into her college dorm last week.

Unlike a lot of colleges, PLU is an extremely intimate and friendly place that is committed to every one of it’s students.

One of the school traditions is that the 150+ member football team is on hand to help students get moved into their dorms.

As you can see in the photos, last Thursday was a busy day, as hundreds of students (including Kaitlynn) moved into the college dorms.

But…

With the help of all the football players, every student was moved in… in less than 4 hours.

Now that’s impressive.

Talk about pulling together for the benefit of everyone.

Later that afternoon, we attended the president’s address and were completely blown away at how he communicated with the students, and set the stage for the school year.

Needless to say, Lisa and I felt great about the fact that our daughter is in good hands.

So…

Like I said.

It’s been an emotional week, what with our daughter leaving home.

But it’s also been exciting to watch as she moves into this next stage of her life.

I can only imagine what kind of impact she’s going to have on this world as she continues in the direction she’s going.

It’s gonna be HUGE.

Because what they say is absolutely true.

When you follow your passions, you’ll never work a day in your life.

Instead, you’ll have a business that compensates you more than you ever imagined, for doing something that you absolutely love, with people that you absolutely love.

P.S. If you’ve got any wisdom, advice, or words of encouragement for Kaitlynn as she begins her Freshman year of college, you can post them below and I’ll make sure she sees them.
